Marcel Zanolari's 'Uvaggio Rosso' is a rare red wine, produced from several varieties of resistant PIWI vines grown in the highest vineyards of Valtellina. The wine ages for a very long time, for about 3 years partly in amphorae and partly in old oak barrels, and then spends another 18 months in the bottle. The nose releases a complex range of aromas with wild blackberries, raspberries, cassis, undergrowth and toasted dried fruit. On the palate, it is spicy, smooth, with a pleasantly bitter finish. Perfect with game such as venison stew with polenta or even mature mountain cheeses
Purple red tending towards violet
An undergrowth of blackberry, wild strawberry, cassis and hints of almond, followed by nutmeg
Soft and fragrant, with good persistence, austere
