Amarone della Valpolicella Riserva from the I Saltari winery is a powerful, deep and structured red wine from Veneto. It comes from a six-hectare vineyard in Val d'Illasi where the grapes are harvested by hand and left to dry for three months in the fruit cellars. This allows all the aromatic substances and sugars to concentrate in the grapes. This is followed by a long ageing process lasting five years, first in wood and then in the bottle. The bouquet is very broad, reminiscent of marasca cherries in alcohol and dried figs, with hints of liquorice and spicy and toasted notes. The palate is full, enveloping and velvety, with ripe tannins, supported by a balanced freshness and a long balsamic finish. Perfect for meditation in front of a roaring fire, or paired with structured dishes such as braised venison
Deep ruby red with garnet reflections
Complex, with hints of morello cherry and cherry in alcohol, notes of dried figs and liquorice, spicy hints of nutmeg and toasted leather and tobacco
Structured and rich, enveloping and full-bodied, with well-integrated tannins and a delicate freshness
