The Anthilia by Donnafugata is a wine that expresses a strong connection to its production territory. The label reproduces the name given by the ancient Romans to the town of Entella, located in southwestern Sicily. It is a white wine with a fresh and fruity character, pleasantly simple and fragrant in its clear expressive immediacy. Its delicate aromas and captivating scents make it an ideal companion for informal occasions among friends. Thanks to its delicacy and aromatic finesse, it pairs very well with appetizers, seafood first courses, or vegetable-based dishes.
The white Anthilia is part of the classic wine range of this important winery, which has contributed to the revival of Sicilian wine. Donnafugata was created by the Rallo family in the 1980s and today owns numerous estates in some of the most vocated areas of the island. It is a blend made with a majority percentage of Catarratto, integrated with a small balance of native Sicilian grape varieties and international varieties that have adapted very well to the island. The vineyards are located in the area of the Contessa Entellina denomination, in a sunny hilly area at an altitude between 200 and 400 meters above sea level. The climate is Mediterranean, mild and breezy, and the soils are predominantly clayey. The grapes are carefully selected before proceeding to soft pressing and fermentation in steel tanks at a controlled temperature of 15-16 °C. Before bottling, the wine is aged in steel for a few months.
The Anthilia wine by Donnafugata is a classic white with a Mediterranean, sunny, and marine profile, distinguished by a gentle tasting pleasure. It especially enhances the characteristics of Catarratto, a native white grape variety widespread throughout the region, but which expresses itself best in the western part of the island. In appearance, it presents a beautiful bright straw-yellow color. Fine and delicate, it expresses floral aromas, hints of citrus zest, lime, green apple, and white-fleshed fruit, enriched by nuances of aromatic herbs from the Mediterranean scrub. Smooth and harmonious, it has a pleasantly fruity, ripe, and rich sip, well balanced by a crisp vein of freshness.
