ARBIS BLANC BORGO SAN DANIELE 2021 DESCRIPTION

Borgo San Daniele Arbis Blanc represents a notable Friulian expression born from a blend of different grape varieties strongly tied to the winemaking tradition of the area. The term “arbis”, the name of the label, comes from the ancient Friulian dialect and translates to “herbs”, referring to the fact that the vineyards from which the grapes come are left covered with spontaneous herbs, periodically mowed. The technique of cover cropping promotes biodiversity and at the same time establishes a healthy competition between the grassy cover and the vineyard that contains the vigor of the vine, favoring the perfect ripening of the grapes.

The Arbis Blanc of Borgo San Daniele consists of a blend of Friulano, Chardonnay, Pinot Bianco, and Sauvignon Blanc, in variable percentages depending on the vintage. The vines are located within the locality of San Leonardo in the municipality of Cormons and are managed under certified organic and biodynamic practices. The harvest is carried out in a differentiated manner based on the ripening of each grape variety and the bunches are initially vinified separately and only at the end of the alcoholic fermentation blended together. The subsequent maturation period takes place in large Slavonian oak barrels for 12 months on the fine lees.

In the glass, the Arbis Blanc Friulano Borgo San Daniele by Mauri Vignaioli displays a brilliant straw-yellow hue with golden reflections. The olfactory mosaic is composed of enticing aromas of white-fleshed fruit, pineapple, aromatic herbs, and wildflowers, adorned with pleasant mineral echoes and acacia honey. Full-bodied taste development, rich in structure and concentration, well balanced by the vibrant freshness that gives a nice drinkability to the sip. The finish highlights a soft and buttery component that lingers long along with mineral sensations.
