Barbaresco Riserva 'Pora' Musso 2017

Musso winery's Barbaresco Riserva 'Pora' is an elegant red wine from the Langhe. The result of a long aging in wood followed by a year of maturation in bottle before being released on the market, this wine acquires softness, elegance and depth on the sip, while the nose impresses with a broad, fruity and slightly spicy bouquet. Try it with first and second course meat dishes of traditional Piedmontese cuisine or drink it as a meditation wine

BARBARESCO RISERVA 'PORA' MUSSO 2017 DESCRIPTION

Barbaresco 'Pora' Riserva represents the most prestigious and complex label of the Musso family-run winemaking enterprise. The link between the Musso family and the Barbaresco area is very intimate and remote, dating back at least to 1698 when Giacomo Filippo Musso was mayor of the commune. During the 20th century, despite numerous difficulties due to economic crisis and wars, the Musso estate grew and today it is managed by Valter, assisted in production and business aspects by his son Emanuele and grandson Luca Accornero. The headquarters is located in the heart of the village of Barbaresco, further evidence of the bond between the family and the territory.

Musso Barbaresco Riserva 'Pora' consists of only Nebbiolo grapes from vineyards planted on mostly limestone soils but with intercalations of clay, located between 240 and 280 meters above sea level. Manual harvesting is accompanied by scrupulous selection of the grapes, which then undergo destemming and crushing operations. The ensuing alcoholic fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks, combined with an initial 20-day maceration with emerged cap with periodic pumping over followed by a second 50-day post-fermentation maceration with submerged cap. Next, the mass is transferred to 50-hectoliter oak barrels where it remains to mature for 12 months, followed by an additional 18 months in 25-hectoliter barrels.

Barbaresco 'Pora' Riserva Musso has a luminous garnet red color. The broad and intense olfactory framework is painted by aromas of red fruits, flowers and balsamic notes, adorned by soft sensations of spices such as cinnamon and vanilla due to the long aging in wood. Precious elegance and class on the palate, where the important structure is well balanced by the fresh-sappy verve and the ripe, well-integrated tannic texture.
