Deltetto's Barbera d'Alba Superiore 'Bramé' is a red wine from Piedmont with a fresh and enveloping flavour, typical traits of the grape variety. The term in Piedmontese dialect 'bramé' translates as 'bramare', an appellation chosen to emphasise the sensation of desire that this Barbera is capable of arousing from the very first taste. Together with Nebbiolo and Arneis, this variety is among the traditional grapes cultivated by the Deltetto family, among the greatest promoters of the qualities of the Roero area.
Deltetto Barbera d'Alba Superiore 'Bramé' is produced from only Barbera grapes grown in a sustainable manner, excluding the use of herbicides. Once harvested, the grapes are mellowed in stainless steel tanks, containers in which alcoholic fermentation takes place accompanied by about 10 days of maceration on the skins. For the subsequent ageing phase, oak barrels are used instead, containers in which the wine rests for about 12 months until bottling and further rest for a few months in glass.
To the eye, Barbera d'Alba Superiore Deltetto 'Bramé' exhibits an intense ruby red mantle with violet hues. Decisive fruity hints of black cherry and plum emerge from the glass, enriched by floral tones of violet and sweet hints of cocoa and clove. On the palate this Barbera shows good structure and considerable intensity, as well as marked freshness, soft envelopment and well-integrated tannins, elements that define an elegant and typical progression. On the finish, the sensations of ripe fruit and spices previously perceived on the nose reappear. The producer's recommendation is to pair this Barbera with mature cheeses, first courses with meat sauces or various second courses.
