BARBERA D'ALBA SUPERIORE 'SUCULÉ' LO ZOCCOLAIO 2022 (PACKAGING) DESCRIPTION

Barbera d'Alba Superiore "Suculé" Lo Zoccolaio originates from Piedmont's golden wine-growing region, Barolo, a World Heritage Site since 2014, where Barbera grapes, like Nebbiolo grapes, find the perfect soil to express their full potential. The name of the winery refers to the locality of the same name near Bricco di Barolo and historically refers to the fact that this was previously the home of a clog maker. The original building has recently been renovated, using materials and colours typical of the area in keeping with the rhythms dictated by nature.

The thirty-year-old Barbera vines of Lo Zoccolaio's "Suculé" are located between Barolo and Monforte d'Alba, where the soil has a varied composition of alluvial origin: there are fossils from Sant'Agata marl, clay and limestone; it has excellent south/south-east exposure. The grapes are traditionally harvested by hand and the must is kept in contact with the skins for about 15 days, followed by a light malolactic fermentation. The wine is aged in French barriques for 18 months and then rested in the bottle for a further 6 months.

“Suculé” Barbera Superiore Lo Zoccolaio impresses the eye with its intense ruby red colour and intoxicates the nose with hints of rose, red fruits and vanilla. On the palate, it is fresh and smooth, with excellent persistence. It pairs perfectly with typical Piedmontese meat cuts, as a filling for fresh pasta and as a main course; it is also excellent with mature cheeses at the end of a meal. It is the perfect wine to share at gatherings, celebrations and ceremonies with family and friends, tasting a product that is the result of the passion and production philosophy of a company that aims to preserve tradition while innovating.
