Blanc 'L'Orangeade' Opi D'Aqui 2023

The Blanc “L'Orangeade” by Opi D'Aqui is a full-bodied white, an ‘orange’ born from artisanal care in the south of France. The wine spends about 15 days on the skins and matures in oak barrels for 6 months, factors that give it robustness and intensity. On the nose, ripe peaches, almost syrupy, then orange and hints of ‘garrigue’, the typical Mediterranean scrub of the area, can be perceived. On the palate, it is tannic, pleasantly warm and soft, truly persistent on the finish. Recommended with both white meats and fish soups!

BLANC 'L'ORANGEADE' OPI D'AQUI 2023 DESCRIPTION

“L’Orangeade” from the micro winery Opi d’Aqui is an interesting orange interpretation of the typical grape varieties from the French Mediterranean coast. The name on the label is a carefree attempt to describe this creation, made solely from grapes, territory, and a non-interventionist philosophy.

“L’Orangeade” is produced by Opi d’Aqui using the typical white grape varieties of the French Midi: Marsanne and Grenache Blanc, which make up the cuvée at 60% and 40%, respectively. The grapes are grown under certified organic farming practices and following the principles of biodynamic agriculture on soils with a characteristic clay-limestone composition, located at an altitude of about 200 meters above sea level. The Mediterranean is not far away and influences the dry climate of this extreme western part of Languedoc with its refreshing breezes and, together with the Salagou lake, stretching behind the village of Clermont-l’Hérault, ensures an important reserve of humidity. The bunches are harvested by hand at fullripeness, to be destemmed once in the winery. The fermentation is spontaneous, carried out by indigenous yeasts, and the must remains in contact with the skins for 15 days. The aging takes place in used wooden barrels for a period of 6 months, without any further movement, and the sulfites present are normally those that developed naturally during the fermentation phase.

“L’Orangeade” from Opi d’Aqui is a label that leaves no doubt about what to expect in the glass: an orange wine with a bright appearance and light nuances. The impact on the nose is very territorial: the Mediterranean scrub expresses itself with clear aromas of rosemary and broom, accompanied by a pungent citrus note of orange. In the background, there are notes that recall a ripe sweetness, like yellow peach, which are found on the palate in the sensations of enveloping softness. The sip expresses warmth and structure, with a distinct tannic presence but well integrated and balanced by a powerful freshness. The finish extends over characteristicsaline and briny notes. A bottle to be enjoyed with a wide variety of dishes: from white meats with creamy sauces to grilled mackerel.
