BOLGHERI ROSSO SUPERIORE GRATTAMACCO 2021 DESCRIPTION

A historic brand of the Bolgheri denomination in the production of structured and long-lived red wines, the Grattamacco winery was founded in 1977, on the summit of a hill overlooking the sea between Castagneto Carducci and Bolgheri, at an altitude of 100 meters.

This strategic position ensures that the 14 hectares planted with vineyards enjoy a dry, mild climate, with significant temperature variations especially at the end of summer, capable of ensuring a perfect ripening cycle for the grapes produced here. The agronomic criteria adopted in the vineyard follow organic farming regimes, with low yields per hectare, while the high average age of the vines (about 25 years) guarantees an aromatic development of the grapes with great depth.

These are the fundamental premises for the production of Bolgheri Rosso Superiore Grattamacco: perfectly acclimatized to the clayey-calcareous soils of Bolgheri and uniquely treated with manual procedures in the field, the grapes of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Sangiovese that flow into the Grattamacco Superiore undergo alcoholic fermentation in conical wooden vats, while the malolactic fermentation coincides with the long aging in barriques, capable of imparting softness and aromatic clarity.

Consistency, complexity, and adherence to the typicity of the terroir are the essential requirements of this great red from Bolgheri, the flagship of the production of the Grattamacco estate.
