BRUNELLO DI MONTALCINO ALTESINO 2018 DESCRIPTION

The Brunello di Montalcino Altesino represents a harmonious and velvety expression of the denomination, capable of presenting itself complex and pleasant even just a few years after the harvest. The Altesino estate is located in the homonymous locality situated in the northern part of the Montalcino area, characterized by high altitudes and soils rich in clay and limestone. For the production of the "classic" Brunello, the winery creates a blend of grapes from the six owned plots located in the areas of Altesino, Macina, Cerbaia, Montosoli, Pianezzine, and Velona, the latter two located on the southern slope of the area.

The Brunello di Montalcino by Altesino is a pure Sangiovese Grosso from vines situated in different subzones, with an altitude ranging from 180 to 300 meters above sea level and a variable presence of clay, sand, and galestro. The vinification takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, with over 15 days of maceration on the skins and complete malolactic fermentation.During the fermentation process, the mass is transferred into large oak barrels from Allier and Slavonia for aging of at least 24 months, followed by a minimum of 4 months of refinement in the bottle before its final release on the market.

The Brunello di Montalcino Altesino has a ruby red color with a more pronounced garnet edge as it ages. The nose is characterized by complex aromas of red fruits, wild violets, underbrush, medicinal herbs, tobacco, leather, and chocolate. Evocative mineral hints frame the bouquet. The palate, soft and opulent, reveals pleasant freshness, firm sapidity, and velvety tannins. On the persistent finish, the pleasant fruity and spicy sensations perceived on the nose resurface.
