Intense, fascinating, and complex, the Brunello di Montalcino by Fuligni is a great wine aged for 36 months in Slavonian and Allier barrels. Notes of underbrush, ripe cherry, balsamic herbs, and mineral nuances follow in an everlasting elegance profile
The Brunello di Montalcino Fuligni represents a rare expression of elegance and typicity made by one of the most celebrated wineries in the Montalcino area. The estate consists of 100 hectares of fully cultivated land, of which 14 are reserved for vines in the north-eastern area of Montalcino, mainly in the locality of “I Cottimelli”. Here, the Fuligni family, of noble Venetian origins, arrived in the early 1900s after a long period spent in the Maremma Toscana. The winery, led for decades by Maria Flora Fuligni, adopts a traditional production approach aimed at bringing out the most authentic character of the Montalcino territory.
Fuligni Brunello di Montalcino comes from only Sangiovese Grosso grapes from various owned vineyards, planted on galestro soils rich in stony skeleton, of Eocene origin. The vines also benefit from an altitude ranging between 380 and 450 meters above sea level. Manual harvesting is accompanied by a strict selection of the bunches, which are then fermented in stainless steel tanks.for alcoholic fermentation at controlled temperature, associated with a few weeks of contact between the must and the skins. Once malolactic fermentation is also completed, the wine is transferred to large Slavonian oak barrels of 20 and 30 hectoliters, where it ages for at least 24 months before bottling.
In the glass, the Brunello di Montalcino from the Fuligni winery shows a ruby red color with evident garnet reflections. An articulated and intense aromatic spectrum, defined by scents of ripe cherry, underbrush, aromatic herbs, and fine spices that combine with pleasant balsamic and mineral nuances. Elegant and complex on the palate, where the enveloping softness and the brilliant fresh-salty verve create a vigorous and persistent combination, enriched by the silky tannic texture.
