BRUNELLO DI MONTALCINO RISERVA CAPANNA 2018 DESCRIPTION

The Brunello di Montalcino Riserva from the Capanna winery is an excellence of this renowned territory of Tuscany. The Cencioni family has been producing high-quality wines since the post-war period and today represents one of the prestigious signatures of one of the most beloved and appreciated Italian denominations by connoisseurs around the world. It is a pure Sangiovese that comes from particularly prized parcels and a rigorous selection of grapes. The long aging allows the vine to present itself in a particularly harmonious and balanced form, with refined and complex aromas, rich in notes of tertiary evolution. A great bottle to enjoy on a special evening among connoisseurs.

The Brunello di Montalcino Riserva wine is born in a reality that has made the history of this great Tuscan wine. The Capanna winery is located in the northern area of the Montalcino district, precisely in the Montosoli area, always known as one of the best and capable of giving Sangiovese a profile of extraordinary freshness and elegance. The estate extends over an area of about twenty hectares and is located at an altitude of about 300 meters above sea level with a southeast exposure. The vineyards are cultivated on stony soils of clay origin, with a generous presence of galestro, which makes them poor and draining. The grapes used to make the Riserva come from the oldest vines on the estate, which produce more concentrated and aromatically rich grapes. Fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled steel tanks with a long maceration on the skins. The wine matures for 48 months in Slavonian oak barrels and completes the aging with 15 months in the bottle.

The red Brunello di Montalcino Riserva Capanna offers the pleasure of savoring the purest essence of Sangiovese, in its full and complete expressive maturity. It presents itself with a beautiful light ruby red and bright color, with slight garnet reflections. Refined and elegant, it expresses a bouquet characterized by aromas of marasca, red currant, floral nuances, hints of underbrush, leather, licorice root, and delicate spices. The sip is pleasantly harmonious and smooth, with a finely chiseled aromatic palette, dense and velvety tannins, a fresh and very persistent finish. It is a red that at the table requires important pairings, with a Chianina steak, a Florentine steak, or game on the spit.
