The Cabernet Franc from the La Roncaia winery is a Friulian red that originates in the heart of the Colli Orientali region, a land always suited for vine cultivation. Among the great Bordeaux red grape varieties introduced in Italy during the 1800s, Cabernet Franc is the oldest and the richest in history. Grown on poor soils and in the sunny and breezy climate of Friuli, it produces elegant wines, with a pleasant fruit maturity, combined with an intense vein of mineral freshness. The aging in steel allows it to preserve its fragrant fruity notes and delicate spicy nuances, which constitute the salient features of its most typical varietal characteristics.
The red Cabernet Franc is produced with grapes from the Nimis vineyards of the La Roncaia winery. The estate is located on flysch soils, or ponca in Friulian, an ancient sedimentation of marls and sandstones, very rich in minerals, which has been considered among the best soils for high-quality viticulture for centuries. A stony, very draining land that tends to naturally contain the productive yields of the vine, which expresses itself with few bunches of great concentration and aromatic intensity. The production, aimed at enhancing the historical varieties of the Colli Orientali, is directed at highlighting the typical characteristics of the grape varieties and the precious terroir of this small corner of Friuli.

Fermentation takes place in French oak barrels, with maceration on the skins for about two weeks. Before bottling, the wine ages in stainless steel tanks for about 10 months. In the glass, it has a rather deep ruby red color, with slight violet reflections. On the nose, it expresses winey fragrances, intense aromas with notes of small dark berries, herbaceous nuances, hints of underbrush, humus, and spices. On the palate, it has a good structure, with fruity and spicy aromas, dense tannins, and a finish with fresh and savory notes.
