The Cabernet Sauvignon Riserva 'Freienfeld' from Cantina Kurtatsch is a wine of great character, one of the flagship reds of this historic winery. The label features a 16th-century fresco depicting Pyramus and Thisbe, the tragic love story that unfolded through a crack in the wall, hence the name and image on the bottle. The vineyards are steep and the harvest is necessarily done by hand. The wine is aged in barriques, large oak barrels and at least one year in the bottle to fully express the character of this noble grape variety. The nose is dominated by dark fruit, accompanied by green herbaceous notes reminiscent of Mediterranean scrub and mint. On the palate, the tannins are fine and well integrated, with good freshness and dense structure. This is a wine that promises long evolution
Deep ruby red with garnet reflections
Rich and complex, with dark fruits such as blackberries and blackcurrants, herbs such as bay leaves and lavender, balsamic hints of peppermint, followed by cedar wood and tobacco on the finish
Very warm, robust, with pronounced but velvety tannins, good freshness and great persistence
