Paglione's Cacc'e Mmitte di Lucera 'Caporale' takes its name from Nicola, the grandfather of the current owner of the winery, who began producing Cacc'e Mmitte when it was still a peasant wine. Originally, the winemaking equipment was rented and production had to be completed within a day to leave the tanks free for the next user. Hence 'Cacc' for the must and 'Mmitte' for the grapes to be pressed. The nose opens with hints of red fruit and rose petals, while the palate is tenacious and characterful, fresh and with incisive tannins. Excellent with semi-mature cheeses or barbecued lamb with potatoes
Impenetrable ruby red
Delicate, with hints of raspberry, black plum and blackberry and a slight spiciness on the finish
Vigorous and fresh, with strong tannins
