CARIGNANO DEL SULCIS 'BUIO' MESA 2024 (PACKAGING) DESCRIPTION

Carignano del Sulcis "Buio", produced by the Mesa winery, is a red wine with great taste and extreme finesse. This happy combination makes it suitable for all palates, both those looking for an easy-drinking wine and those who demand class and elegance from a glass. This Carignano represents the perfect synthesis between fruit and complexity, reflecting the physical characteristics of its land like a model. It tells the story of Sardinia, with its colours and aromas. Its personality, as imaginative as it is faithful to tradition, is underlined by the type of labels that Mesa usually uses for all its wines: each one depicts a detail of typical Sardinian tapestries.

Buio is made exclusively from Carignano grapes grown in vineyards located within the Carignano del Sulcis appellation, in the south-western tip of Sardinia. The soil here is sandy and calcareous-clayey, medium-textured, rich in skeleton, with a good component of organic matter and minerals. The climate is markedly Mediterranean, characterised by winds that reduce the phenomena associated with moisture stagnation. All these environmental characteristics result in grapes of great quality at the time of harvest. Harvesting is done manually and is followed by maceration and fermentation in steel and cement tanks. The ageing phase takes place in the same tanks and is relatively short.

Mesa "Buio" has an intense ruby red colour. The nose reveals a complex bouquet with fruity notes of ripe red fruit and pomegranate, floral hints of geranium and rose, and a spicy finish. The palate is soft but also fresh, with gentle tannins. It finishes with slightly balsamic notes and good persistence. Its excellent value for money makes it a must-have for any wine cellar.
