CASTELLO DEL TERRICCIO 2018 DESCRIPTION

Castello del Terriccio is a red wine of great substance and high quality, positioned among the best Supertuscans produced along the Tuscan coast. A wine that is powerful, elegant, deep, and complex, with aromas of red fruit, berries, spices, and tertiary notes of great expressive finesse. It is made with Syrah, Petit Verdot, and other red grape varieties, cultivated in the Castello del Terriccio estate. Thanks to its intense and seductive international profile, it has received many awards and recognitions both in Italy and abroad.

The red Castello del Terriccio is produced in the estate of the same name located in Castellina Marittima, in the hinterland of Vada, a few kilometers from the Tyrrhenian coast. The vineyards are planted with a south-southwest exposure at an altitude of about 150 meters above sea level, with a planting density of 5600 vines per hectare. The proximity to the coast provides a particularly favorable microclimate, with extraordinary brightness and summers always tempered by the sea breeze. The soils of medium texture, with the presence of silt and sands, are rich in minerals and have proven perfect for hosting international grape varieties. In these particular conditions, even demanding varieties like Syrah and Petit Verdot manage to reach perfect ripeness with particularly rich and elegant aromatic profiles. The various grapes are harvested and vinified separately, following their respective ripening times. The wines mature in Allier French oak barriques for at least 18 months before bottling.
