Catarratto 'Prio' Donnafugata 2024

The white wine Catarratto “Prio” is a spontaneous and lively product, where the refreshing sip fuels a very smooth drinkability. A bottle with which Donnafugata, a symbol not only of Sicilian oenology but of the entire peninsula, provides us with a youthful representation of one of the most representative white grape varieties of regional viticulture, the Catarratto. The Catarratto “Prio” is made from pure grapes of a great native Sicilian white grape variety, widely cultivated throughout the island, the Catarratto. The vines of this variety are cultivated near the Tenuta di Contessa Entellina, within vineyards located in hilly areas at an altitude between 200 and 600 meters characterized by a clayey loam subsoil. The grapes, once harvested, ferment in steel containers, where they remain to age for about two months. After bottling, maturation continues in glass for a period of three months, at the end of which the wine is ready to be released for sale.

This Catarratto “Prio” wine presents itself visually with a bright, very inviting color. The aromas that develop on the nose evoke fruity and Mediterranean sensations, enhanced by light nuances that bring to mind aromatic herbs. On the palate, it has a thin, velvety body, with a sip characterized by a pleasant freshness. A Sicilian white with which the Donnafugata winery gifts us a young and drinkable wine, ideal to uncork during the most jovial aperitifs or in more formal occasions.
