Champagne Brut 'Cuvée Louis' Tarlant 1996

Tarlant's Champagne 'Cuvée Louis' Brut Nature 1996 is a rarity, a sparkling wine that ages for a quarter of a century before disgorging in 2023. It comes from the lieu-dit 'Les Crayons' in Œuilly, a prized cru where Pinot Noir and Chardonnay are harvested from vines planted after the war. Fermentation is spontaneous and takes place in oak barrels without malolactic fermentation, a traditional method responsible for the longevity of this wine. The bouquet is complex, with aromas of candied citrus fruits, toasted hazelnuts and subtle hints of iodine on the finish. On the palate, it is taut and creamy, with extraordinary length and precision despite its age. Perfect with shellfish or mature Comté cheese
