The Champagne Brut Grand Cru 'Royal' by Pommery is a blend of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay grapes from the finest Grands Crus of the Côte des Blancs and the Montagne de Reims in France. The reference vintage, 2009, is described as a "gift from the gods" due to the hot, dry, and very sunny summer that characterized the beautiful season and resulted in juicy, very large grapes, flawless and with near-perfect balance. This Champagne is aged for at least sixty months on the lees and, upon opening, one is overwhelmed by sweet floral notes of honeysuckle and acacia and fruitier notes of dried fig, as well as exceptional mineral hints. A masterpiece to be served during the aperitif or with a Bresse chicken with Combava, a French specialty
To the eye, the Champagne Pommery ‘Royal’ Brut Grand Cru expresses a pale golden yellow hue with great finesse effervescence. The aromatic bouquet evokes seductive fruity and floral perceptions of dried fig, honeysuckle, lemon zest, and acacia flower, enriched by notes of flint and frangipane cream. The sip is velvety, in perfect balance between creamy softness and fresh-salty component, with exceptional minerality and citrus echoes marking the persistent finish.
