The Chardonnay from Girlan is a white wine that well reflects the winemaking tradition of the Alto Adige region. The qualities of freshness and youth are the elements that best characterize this harmonious and elegant white. It fully expresses the philosophy of the winery, which has made the respect for the traditions of Oltradige and Bassa Atesina and attention to the most recent oenological innovations its essential pillars.
The cultivation of Chardonnay grapes has an important history in Cornaiano. The vineyards where the grapes are grown have good ventilation; in fact, they are planted on the hills of Oltradige at an altitude of 450-500 meters above sea level and in Egna, in Bassa Atesina. The soil has a significant presence of minerals, resulting from glacial sediments. The harvest is still done manually. The clusters are gently pressed, and the must is clarified by natural sedimentation. Finally, the fermentation in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperature and aging on fine lees allow this product
to best express the qualities of the grape variety. The Chardonnay Girlan, with its straw-yellow color, has a dry, particularly fine and delicate profile on the nose, along with fresh aromas of wildflowers and yellow fruit. Elegance, softness, and expressiveness stand out on the palate, accompanied by a sensation of freshness and sapidity. This aromatic and stylistic profile is also the result of the strong temperature variations between day and night, particularly noticeable in the vineyards during autumn. The characteristics of Chardonnay from Girlan can be best appreciated when served as an aperitif or paired with appetizers, fish dishes, or delicate white meats.
