CHORA BIANCO L'ACINO 2024 DESCRIPTION

The 'Chora' Bianco from the Calabrian winery L'Acino represents an artisanal label with a lively and flowing character, the child of a sustainable approach aimed at enhancing the territory of San Marco Argentano. It is a blend of the white grape varieties Guarnaccia and Mantonico, two traditional grapes of Calabria. The former variety seems to have arrived in the region from neighboring Sicily, where it now appears to have disappeared. Instead, Mantonico has been cultivated in Calabria since Hellenic domination, and in fact it seems that its name derives from the Greek word "mantis-eos."

Acino 'Chora' Bianco comes from a blend of Mantonico (80 percent) and Guarnaccia Bianca (20 percent), varieties that are guyot-trained on sand-rich soils. The vines, located about 300 meters above sea level, benefit from southeast exposure, a typical Mediterranean climate and organic and biodynamic vineyard management. In the winery, alcoholic fermentation is entrusted to indigenous yeasts only and takes place in stainless steel tanks, the same type of wine containers in which the mass remains to mature for a few months before bottling, which takes place without prior filtration.

The 'Chora' Bianco from the L'Acino estate possesses an intriguing bright golden yellow color. The nose offers aromas of yellow-fleshed fruits such as plum and peach that combine with notes of white flowers and hints of minerals. The taste reveals marked freshness and excellent mineral component, as well as a round body well balanced by the pleasant savory finish. Because of its remarkable dynamism, this Calabrian white wine can be paired with a variety of seafood dishes, such as mixed fried fish or first courses with shellfish and molluscs.

When to open
To enjoy an artisanal wine at its best, we recommend you to let it 'breathe' at least 15-30 minutes before serving
When to drink
Wine good to drink now, but that can have a beautiful evolution after resting for a while in your cellar
Glass
Medium open goblet
Perfect for young and medium bodied white wines which don't require excessive oxygenation to open. The opening, slightly tighter than the body of the glass, favors the concentration of aromas towards the nose, enhancing the perception of aromas and limiting the dispersion
