Scala’s Cirò Rosato is a delicate expression of Gaglioppo, Calabria’s flagship grape variety. The vines from which the grapes are harvested are of moderate age, planted between 1987 and 1997, on the clay soils that make Cirò so prized. The must, separated from the skins after a few hours, ferments and matures exclusively in stainless steel. On the nose it is fragrant, with hints of red fruits and Mediterranean scrub, whilst on the palate it is dry, savoury and delicate, with subtle tannins. Ideal with a Calabrian-style mixed fried fish platter
Coppery pink with orange highlights
Very floral, with notes of rosehip and violet that give way to cherry, and a herbaceous finish with a hint of bay leaf
Very dry, fresh and with subtle tannins; smooth yet savoury
