Collio Bianco 'Collio' Raccaro 2024

The Collio Bianco is the symbolic wine of this small region located at the easternmost tip of our peninsula. Raccaro offers a version of Collio Bianco made with a blend of native and international grapes, which find their common denominator in the characteristics of the soils. The flysch or "ponca" soils in Friulano mark the wine with a characteristic savory and mineral note, which harmoniously combines with the intense bouquet of ripe fruit and slightly aromatic and balsamic nuances.       

The White wine 'Collio' represents the history and tradition of this Friulano territory. When modern monoculture was not yet known, the vineyards were planted with different varieties and only one white wine was produced, named after the place of production: Collio. Thus was born one of the best excellences of Italian enology, famous for its balance and harmony, the result of grape varieties with complementary characteristics. Raccaro produces the Collio Bianco with Ribolla Gialla (30%), Pinot Grigio (30%), Sauvignon Blanc (20%) and Friulano (20%). Each grape variety contributes with its personality to create a mix of great character, complexity, and tastefulness. After the harvest, following a short cryomaceration, the grapes are softly pressed and fermented in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature of about 18 °C. The wine matures on the fine lees in steel for about 6 months before being bottled.

The Collio Bianco 'Collio' by Raccaro is a true expression of terroir. The mineral savor of the "ponca" becomes the expressive medium of the various grape varieties, which take on its characteristics, showing a plasticity and great adaptability to the environment. The wine has a straw yellow color. The olfactory profile is complex, with floral scents, fruity aromas, hints of aromatic herbs, and balsamic memories. The sip is broad, enveloping, and complex, with a fresh finish on savory and mineral notes.
