The Cortese 'Garbato' by Luca Canevaro is a very delicate white wine produced in the Colli Tortonesi area. The must is fermented at low temperatures in stainless steel tanks to preserve the floral notes of the grape variety, which express themselves in a fresh and fragrant bouquet, alongside slight citrus hints. On the palate, it is very balanced, refreshing, and slightly savory on the finish. A perfect wine to pair with delicate fish dishes!
The Cortese ‘Garbato’ from the wine estate Luca Canevaro is a white wine fresh and fragrant that reflects the gentle qualities of the Cortese grape. This white grape variety has been widespread in Piemonte since at least the 1700s and seems to be native to the territory of the province of Alessandria, where the Luca Canevaro winery is located. Piemonte producers have always held this grape in high regard, probably due to the graceful characteristics of the wine that derives from it. Regarding the etymology, there are two hypotheses: one refers to the “courteous” and delicate aromas of the wine, the other attributes the name's origin to the fact that Cortese was the preferred grape of the Genoese court.
Luca Canevaro ‘Garbato’ Cortese is made exclusively from grapes of the same name grown in accordance with the principles of certified organic farming. The vines, aged between 20 and 30 years, are rooted in clay soils at an altitude of 300-350 meters above sea level. The harvest is carried out by hand and the bunches are then subjected to a soft pressing followed by the alcoholic fermentation of the must in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, in order to preserve the aromas. After a few months of aging always in steel, the wine is finally bottled.
The Cortese ‘Garbato’ by Luca Canevaro has a light straw-yellow color. The nose offers delicate and fragrant aromas of white-fleshed fruit and lemon zest, enriched by floral notes and fine mineral nuances. Light and refreshing taste development, characterized by a slightly savory persistence on the finish. An excellent Cortese to pair with lightly structured dishes such as appetizers or seafood first courses.
