CROZES-HERMITAGE ROUGE MAGNUM DOMAINE DES ENTREFAUX 2023 DESCRIPTION

With its fruity and spicy character, the Crozes-Hermitage Rouge from Domaine des Entrefaux is an effective and accessible introduction to the character of this Northern Rhône AOC. The Crozes-Hermitage production area covers a large area surrounding the noble Hermitage hill and produces fine white and red wines from Marsanne, Roussanne and Syrah grapes, the only black grape variety permitted. Through their labels and artisanal style, François Tardy and his wife Anne are faithful interpreters of this territory.

Domaine des Entrefaux Crozes-Hermitage Rouge is a 100% Syrah grown on 15 hectares of vineyards located in the communes of Beaumont-Monteux, Chanos-Curson and Pont de l'Isère. Here, the clay-limestone soils originated from the Alpine deluge and the vines, aged between 10 and 60 years, are grown under certified organic conditions. The grapes are harvested by hand and completely destemmed, then pressed in concrete tanks where spontaneous alcoholic fermentation takes place, combined with 2-3 weeks of maceration on the skins. Once malolactic fermentation is complete, 10% of the mass is transferred to stainless steel tanks, while the remaining 90% is transferred to oak barrels, where it undergoes a year of ageing.

Crozes-Hermitage Domaine des Entrefaux Rouge has a bright ruby red colour. Fruity notes of cherry, blackberry and blueberry characterise the aromatic range, enriched by final hints of black pepper and tobacco. Soft and full on the palate, with juicy freshness and fine tannins that anticipate sensations of red and black fruits consistent with the olfactory texture. A Syrah that is already tasty in its youth and can withstand up to 5 years of further ageing in the bottle if well preserved.

When to drink
Wine good to drink now, but that can have a beautiful evolution after resting for a while in your cellar
Glass
Medium open goblet
Perfect for young and medium bodied red wines which don't require excessive oxygenation to open. The opening, slightly tighter than the body of the glass, favors the concentration of aromas towards the nose, enhancing the perception of aromas and limiting the dispersion
Longevity
You can leave it to rest in the cellar for 3-4 years
