DESIDERIO AVIGNONESI 2020 DESCRIPTION

Desiderio is a Bordeaux blend whose intense aromas represent a truly exciting business card. It is a red wine resulting from a union of two grape varieties that are easy to find in Tuscany, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. A concentrate of strength and personality in this bottle, produced by the Avignonesi winery for the first time in 1988. A label to be reserved for those dishes based on red meat and game.

The wine Desiderio is a red that comes from a skillful blend of two international red grape varieties that feel truly at home in Tuscany, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. The vines of these two varieties are about 15 years old, and are trained in guyot, growing on medium-depth soils characterized by a strong presence of clay. The grapes, after harvesting, ferment alcoholically thanks to the presence of indigenous yeasts in steel containers, macerating for 3 weeks on the skins. The aging phase then continues, carried out for 18 months in barrique of French oak, new to 25%. At the end of this period, the wine is ready to be bottled.

25%. At the end of this period, the wine is ready to be bottled.

The red wine Desiderio produced by the Avignonesi winery presents itself visually with a deep and intense ruby color. The aromas that develop on the nose are rich and pronounced, moving on fruity and spicy notes, which gradually give way to nuances of Mediterranean herbs. On the palate, it is full-bodied, rich, with a sip in which the tannic structure is finely integrated; it finishes with a lingering aftertaste of chocolate. A bottle whose label bears the image of the great bull "Desiderio", the largest specimen ever recorded in all of Tuscany. A strong, majestic and imposing animal, just like this wine.
