The Eclisse of La Roncaia is a Friulian white wine of great charm and softness produced in Cergneu di Nimis, in the hills northeast of Udine. It is mainly composed of Sauvignon Blanc grapes, which give the finished product its typical and elegant aromaticity, enriched by a small percentage of Picolit that imparts a complex fruity richness and intensity on the palate. The grapes that make up this "Eclisse" come from company vineyards located in the municipalities of Tarcento and Attimis, situated on Eocene marly soils. It impresses with its fragrance and intensity of aromas, fruity notes, and a harmonious persistent taste, especially when paired with seafood.
Eclisse from the Roncaia winery is obtained through separate vinifications for each variety that composes it, in order to ensure the perfect ripeness of each grape variety. The fermentations take place separately, partly in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks and partly in French Allier oak barrels, which will give the Eclisse a creamy and intense sensation on the palate. It then ages in steel containers in contact with the fine lees until bottling and finally concludes its maturation with an adequate rest in the bottle.
Visually, the Eclisse of Roncaia presents itself with a bright straw yellow hue, streaked with greenish reflections. It impacts the nose by releasing aromas with mineral and pleasantly briny tones, followed closely by fresh scents of freshly cut grass, hay, and elderflower, surrounded by notes of mandarin pulp against a delicate background of mixed spices. On the palate, it is soft and enveloping, with delicate freshness and pronounced sapidity that make it the ideal companion for an elegant and unusual aperitif.
