“Esegesi” by Eugenio Rosi is the first bottled creation by Eugenio Rosi and is the result of a delightful blend of Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, which combines fruit richness with a sumptuous drinkability. When it comes to international blends, many enthusiasts turn up their noses, thinking of standardized interpretations, where the varietal prevails over the territory. This is certainly not the case with this splendid red bottled by Eugenio Rosi, one of the true artisans of Trentino, who inherited an immense passion for the land from his father and decided to ban the use of any chemical or synthetic substances in his vineyards located in Vallagarina, just south of Trento. Perfect ripening of the grapes and seriousness in the cellar have allowed Eugenio to become a true reference point for those seeking terroir wines, without giving up elegance and stylistic focus. Exactly what the world of artisanal wine needs.
The Rosi “Esegesi” is obtained from a blend consisting of a Bordeaux blend based on Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, coming from from vineyards located in Rovereto at an altitude of 350 meters on loamy, clayey, and calcareous soils. In the vineyard, as already mentioned, no chemical or synthetic substances are used, while in the cellar, spontaneous alcoholic fermentations and long maceration on the skins are carried out, and the liquid is aged in wooden barrels for 24 months and concrete tanks.
The wine “Esegesi” presents itself in the glass with a deep ruby hue, edged with purplish reflections. Intense and varied nose, where hints of blackberry, cocoa, ripe plum, earth, and graphite abound. The olfactory complexity coincides with a fleshy and defined tasting experience, masterfully balanced between extracts and freshness, and enlivened by a slender yet present tannin. Long finish, fading into balsamic and herbal returns.
