ETNA ROSSO 'CUORDILAVA D&G' DONNAFUGATA 2020 DESCRIPTION

From the collaboration between the Sicilian estate Donnafugata and the brand Dolce & Gabbana comes the Etna Rosso ‘Cuordilava Limited Edition D&G’, a proud and classy expression of the Etna territory. The bottle packaging has been exclusively designed by Dolce & Gabbana, inspired by the color of magma and the traditional motifs and styles of the Sicilian cart. At the center of the label stands the silhouette of the smoking Etna, immersed in a nearly fairytale landscape that recalls the chivalric tales of storytellers and the theatrical backdrops of the Opera dei pupi, the traditional puppet theater.

Donnafugata ‘Cuordilava Limited Edition D&G’ Etna Rosso is a 100% Nerello Mascalese grown on the northern slope of Etna, between the municipalities of Randazzo and Castiglione di Sicilia, on terraces held up by dry stone walls made of lava stone. Here, the altitude is high, ranging between 700 and 750 meters above sea level, while the soils are sandy and of volcanic origin, rich in mineral elements. The harvest is carried out in October and the grapes are then carefully selected and destemmed. The subsequent alcoholic fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, with 10-12 days of maceration on the skins, and subsequently, the mass is transferred to French oak barrels for maturation of over a year. This is followed by at least 24 months of further aging in the bottle before the final market launch.

The Etna Rosso ‘Cuordilava Limited Edition D&G’ by Donnafugata is a bright ruby red color. The aromatic spectrum ranges from hints of small red fruits, plum, orange peel, and lavender, enriched by spicy, balsamic, and underbrush notes. Wide and deep the tasting, characterized by well-integrated tannins, elegant minerality, and long savory persistence.
