Nuzzella's Etna Rosso 'Selmo' comes from the 30-year-old vineyards of Piedimonte Etneo, on the north-eastern slope of the volcano. Here the lava-alluvial soils and organic farming shape a Nerello Mascalese that genuinely expresses the terroir. Vinification involves the use of both destemmed grapes and whole bunches, with long macerations and 18 months of ageing between French oak and steel. The nose expresses ripe cherries, violets and dark spices; the palate is fresh, elegant and harmonious. Perfect with roast lamb with herbs and mature pecorino cheese
Transparent ruby red with garnet hues
Fresh attack with pomegranate and cherry, then violet and finish with pepper and cinnamon
Silky tannins, good freshness and harmonic structure, long finish
