Frappato 'Bell'assai' Donnafugata 2023

The Frappato “Bell’assai” is a Sicilian red wine characterized by its straightforward and refreshing sip and a bouquet of fragrant aromas on the nose, where floral notes play the leading role. A bottle that comes from a great Sicilian grape variety, the Frappato, cultivated by Donnafugata in the plots located near Vittoria, one of the four areas of the island where the winery's vineyards are concentrated. A label in which lightness and drinkability go hand in hand, merging into a classic, round, and harmonious structure.

This “Bell’Assai” is a Frappato that comes to life from the homonymous red grape variety. An indigenous grape that the Donnafugata winery cultivates in the vineyards surrounding Acate, a small municipality located in southeastern Sicily, on soils predominantly composed of sand. The grapes, carefully selected during the harvest phase to ensure only the best berries, ferment alcoholically in steel, macerating on the skins for about 8-9 days. Then follows the aging, which takes place in steel for 4 months, at the end of which the wine is ready to be bottled and marketed.

The wine "Bell'Assai" is a Frappato characterized by a beautiful bright color, reminiscent of the shade of ruby red. The nose is tidy and clean, presenting refreshing notes, where floral aromas and hints of small red fruits can be found. On the palate, it is light-bodied, easy to drink, and smooth, with a sip marked by a fine tannic texture. An immediately understandable red, straightforward, which represents a very valid companion when you don't know which bottle to put on the table: it is indeed very versatile in the kitchen, and pairs well with various preparations and recipes, even those based on fish.
