The Friulano "San Pietro" from I Clivi is a wine with a historical identity, like the vines from which the Friulano grapes that give rise to this superb wine, fresh and mineral, contrary to the more classic enological canons, direct and progenitor of strong emotions. It retraces the winemaking in Friuli Venezia Giulia, specifically the Colli Orientali, a happy island that rises above the characteristic “flysch”, that is, the meeting between sandstones and marls of oceanic derivation.
Old vines that enclose an exuberant past. Low yields per hectare, but first-class nectar and extraordinary drinkability. The indigenous vineyard “San Pietro” is about 70 years old and is managed according to the organic regulations. After whole cluster pressing, without destemming, the must is statically decanted and the following morning spontaneous fermentation begins, without the addition of yeasts, in steel. The aging lasts 6-8 months on the fine lees, which are kept in suspension, in steel. Finally, the wine is bottled with a light filtration and sulfitation.
The Friulano "San Pietro" is an intense straw yellow. On the nose, it is exotic, floral, with sulfurous notes of talc and, at the same time, fragrant hints. On the palate, it is a continuous dialogue between spicy tingling, acid and fat and noble dustings of precious minerality. Classy texture, a wine that impresses while being delicate and standing on tiptoes. A vigorous sip with sharp bites. Walking and getting lost on a hill adorned with hazelnut trees laden with fruit, surrounded by beautiful flowers. Captivating!
