The Friulano ‘Vigna del Rolat’ from the small and beautiful artisan reality of Raccaro is a pure and authentic interpretation of the Friulano grape variety crafted in the land of choice for this variety: Collio. Founded in 1928 in Cormòns, on the slopes of Monte Quarin, by Giuseppe Raccaro, the estate has remained strictly family-run throughout its century of history. Today, it is Dario Raccaro who continues the family tradition, assisted by his wife Dalila and their children Paolo and Luca, who represent the fourth generation of the Raccaro winemakers.
The ‘Vigna del Rolat’ Raccaro Friulano is made from only grapes of the same variety, sustainably grown on the so-called “ponka”, a characteristic soil type of Collio consisting of a alternation of layers of marls and sandstones. After harvesting, the bunches are transferred to the winery and subjected to a gentle pressing, with the must obtained being left to cold decant for a short period before fermentationcontrolled temperature in stainless steel tanks. In the same type of wine containers, the liquid matures on the fine lees for several months until the final bottling.
The Collio Friulano ‘Vigna del Rolat’ by Raccaro has an intense straw-yellow color. The aromatic bouquet expresses fine perceptions of summer fruits, citrus, white flowers, iodine, aromatic herbs, and bitter almond. Soft and round on the palate, animated by prominent freshness and a decided mineral-salty push in a velvety and persistent progression, of exceptional pleasantness. The producer himself suggests pairing his Friulano ‘Vigna del Rolat’ with raw ham, light appetizers, and platters of assorted cold cuts and cheeses, preferably from the region.
