The Gewürztraminer produced by the San Michele Appiano winery is a white wine from Alto Adige that intrigues with its aromatic fullness that manifests both on the nose and palate, where typical varietal aromas and flavors are discovered. A bottle that comes from vineyards located along the magnificent Alto Adige Wine Road, which runs alongside locations such as Termeno and Caldaro, where Gewürztraminer is one of the most widely cultivated grape varieties. A label with a refreshing sip, in which the drink is highly enjoyable, and which, among its various merits, also has the quality of being extremely versatile in the kitchen.
This Gewürztraminer is made from the same-named grapes used in purity by the team at the San Michele Appiano winery. The vines, whose age ranges from about 10 to 30 years, grow using the Guyot system, sinking their roots into a terroir characterized by a gravelly and calcareous subsoil, facing south and southeast. The grapes, harvested by hand between mid-September and early October, ferment at controlled temperatures in containersof steel, where they then remain to refine for a few months, until the moment when bottling operations begin, after which the wine is released on the market.
The white wine Gewürztraminer presents itself to the visual examination with a color reminiscent of straw yellow. On the nose, it is typically aromatic, with sensations ranging from rose to exotic fruit, also touching on slightly spicy notes. On the palate, it is light-bodied, with a sip that is pleasantly fresh and smooth, making the drink almost an automatic gesture. A truly flawless bottle, with which the San Michele Appiano winery presents a grape variety that, in Alto Adige, expresses itself at always very interesting quality levels. Absolutely to be tried.
