Pellegrino presents the Grillo Superiore 'Senaria', a white wine from a single vineyard that stands out for its warm smoothness, a distinctive trait of both the variety and the Mediterranean Sicilian territory. It is the first Grillo Superiore produced in Sicily, made from an old vineyard located in Mazara del Vallo, in the province of Trapani, within the Tenuta Gazzerotta. The name 'Senaria' emphasizes the advanced age of the vineyard, dedicated to one of the most important white grape varieties of the island, specifically represented by a clone isolated within the estates of the Pellegrino family.
Pellegrino 'Senaria' Grillo Superiore is made solely from Grillo grapes from a single plot over 40 years old, planted on clayey soils particularly rich in mineral elements. The grapes, usually harvested during the first decade of August, are vinified into white wine through soft pressing and subsequent long alcoholic fermentation of the must in stainless steel tanks at low temperatures, all in a reducing environment that prevents the occurrence of oxidative phenomena. The subsequent aging phase lasts for several months and always takes place in stainless steel on fine lees.
The Grillo Superiore 'Senaria' from the Sicilian winery Pellegrino has a bright and consistent straw yellow color. The aromatic profile is described by intense and quite complex aromas of exotic fruit, syrupy peach, citrus zest, dried fruit, and yellow flowers, highlighting an olfactory context of ample maturity. However, the taste does not lack freshness, with a very smooth body and moderate salinity guiding the fragrant finish.
