K'Un' Clara Marcelli 2021

The K'Un by Clara Marcelli is a pure Montepulciano produced in the Piceno area according to the principles of organic farming. The aging first in used wooden barriques and then in bottle allows this red to release evolved and spicy aromas of sour cherry and licorice. On the palate, it is firm and rich, with good body and an interesting evolutionary potential.

K'UN' CLARA MARCELLI 2021 DESCRIPTION

The K'Un' by Clara Marcelli is a liquid testimony of all the class and depth of Montepulciano, enjoyable even in youth but capable of reserving further surprises with aging. A truly emblematic territorial expression of the K'Un, which gives voice to the clear differences between Abruzzo Montepulciano and Marche Montepulciano, as well as the almost unlimited potential of the grape variety. Emanuele and Daniele Colletta founded the winery in 1992, immediately deciding to follow the dictates of organic farming and later to rely on the consultancy of Marco Casolanetti, winemaker and owner of Oasi degli angeli, a true local reference point. So much work and a low profile, and the results are stunning wines, also due to a quality-price ratio decidedly skewed towards the former.

The red K'un' is obtained from pure Montepulciano grapes from vineyards located at 250 meters above sea level and that rest on clayey soils. If in the vineyard, as already mentioned, chemical and synthetic products are banned and manual harvest is carried out, in the winery the process continues always without forced interventions, with alcoholic fermentation that occurs spontaneously in stainless steel containers at controlled temperature. The liquid ages for 18 months in barrique and for 12 months in bottle.

The Clara Marcelli K'un presents itself in the glass with a deep violet-red hue of great intensity. Powerful and intense, it does not hide from the first sniff the breadth of its profile, made of ripe cherry, cocoa, earth, pepper, and cloves, as well as hints of wild herbs. A nose that challenges those who approach it, in search of descriptors, almost unlimited. The sip is no less, and while being rich and concentrated, it is constantly balanced by an integrated contribution of salt and freshness, as well as by a perfectly polished tannin. Rhythm and strength, for a great red to drink today or to wait for with confidence.
