The Lacrima di Morro d'Alba Superiore “Orgiolo” produced by the famous winery Marotti Campi from the Marche region is a red wine with a very particular face and a unique and inimitable personality within the Italian wine scene. It is produced with an ancient red grape variety, cultivated only in the small hilly area around the village of Morro d’Alba, which has survived the invasion of international varieties thanks to the tenacity and passion of a group of producers. It is an atypical red, with a floral and aromatic profile, intense and expressive, which surprises and seduces precisely for its unmistakable character.
The Lacrima di Morro d'Alba “Orgiolo” is born in the estate of one of the great names of Marche wine. Marotti Campi represents the oldest reality of the Morro d’Alba area, a true memory of this corner of the Marche. Today the estate extends over 120 hectares, of which about 50 are planted with vines, mainly with the indigenous grape varieties, Lacrima di Morro d’Alba and Verdicchio. The Lacrima vineyards are cultivated on gentle hilly slopes with exposure to the south, southeast, on soils predominantly composed of clay, with the presence of limestone. The grapes undergo a soft pressing and are sent for fermentation in steel tanks, with maceration on the skins for a couple of weeks. The wine ages for 12 months in used barriques before the final bottling.
The wine “Orgiolo” by Marotti Campi is a version of this typical Marche red with great stylistic precision and expressive elegance. Thanks to the passage in wood, the wine acquires a seductive maturity and harmony, making it very balanced. The color is deep ruby red with purple reflections. The bouquet is surprising, with aromas of rose petal, violet, dog rose, accompanied by scents of ripe cherry, small berries, and hints of Mediterranean scrub herbs. The taste is soft and enveloping, with fine tannins and floral aromas. The finish is pleasantly fruity and has good persistence.
