LUGANA 'CANDRÌ' SAOTTINI 2024 DESCRIPTION

The Lugana 'Candrì' from the Lombard winery Saottini is a pure expression of the Turbiana grape variety, also known as Trebbiano di Lugana, characterized by a balanced and complete taste. This variety, also widespread in the Soave area with the Trebbiano di Soave clone, has been discovered to be a clone of Verdicchio, although the wines produced have some differences in terms of organoleptic characteristics. In the Lugana area, shared between the Veneto and Lombardy regions, Turbiana finds its ideal habitat, benefiting from the high clay content of the soils and the mild climate strongly influenced by the presence of Lake Garda.

The 'Candrì' Saottini Lugana is a 100% Turbiana from vines grown on clayey soils of morainic origin in the Lugana area. Harvesting is carried out by hand in crates and is followed by soft pressing of the grapes, with the resulting must being subjected to decantation to obtain a clear product. At this point, alcoholic fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks thanks to the inoculation of selected yeasts, a process that occurs at a controlled temperature of 16°C, useful for preserving the aromas of the finished wine to the maximum. The subsequent aging phase also takes place in steel, and after 6 months, the wine is bottled and left to rest for a further period before final commercialization.

Visually, the Saottini Lugana 'Candrì' expresses a straw yellow color with greenish reflections. The aromatic profile shows hints of citrus, white pulp fruit, and flowers, supported by pleasant mineral nuances. The tasting experience is very balanced, with excellent freshness and sapidity, as well as a fragrant finish that invites you to return to the glass.

Temperature
10-12°C
When to drink
Wine good to drink now, but that can have a beautiful evolution after resting for a while in your cellar
Glass
Medium open goblet
Perfect for young and medium bodied white wines which don't require excessive oxygenation to open. The opening, slightly tighter than the body of the glass, favors the concentration of aromas towards the nose, enhancing the perception of aromas and limiting the dispersion
