Contumaz Malbec comes from the vineyards of San Martìn, in the foothills of the Andes in eastern Mendoza. Fernando Ugrin, the producer, produces a Malbec that epitomises the word 'contumaz', or stubborn: a wine more focused on finesse than opulence, in contrast to the typical style of the region. Aromas of ripe plum, blackberry and sweet spices introduce a full-bodied but balanced sip, with good freshness and velvety tannic texture. Goes well with game dishes and stews
