Fongoli's Montefalco Rosso 'Bicunsio' is a deep, distinctive Umbrian red, designed to authentically reflect the character of the Montefalco hills. It comes from historic vineyards planted in 1975 and combines Sangiovese, Sagrantino and Montepulciano, fermented together in open vats according to traditional methods. Long ageing in large Slavonian oak barrels and bottling without filtration define its authentic, uncompromising style. The nose opens with an intense and layered texture of ripe cherry and blackberry, with spicy nuances and a slightly balsamic background, while the palate is full and enveloping, supported by present but mature tannins and a freshness that accompanies the sip. At the table, it finds natural affinity with red meats and aged cheeses, for example with braised beef or pasta alla norcina
