MONTEFALCO ROSSO RISERVA ANTONELLI SAN MARCO 2021 DESCRIPTION

Antonelli San Marco's Montefalco Rosso Riserva is a rich, intense and structured wine that represents the highest expression of this traditional Umbrian red. It is made from the red grapes traditionally grown in Montefalco: Sangiovese, Sagrantino and Montepulciano. It is a label that stands out for its complexity of aromas and a sip that combines persistence and pleasant drinkability. Aging in wood gives softness to the tannins and gives evolved aromas, which go to enhance a ripe and rich fruit.

Montefalco Riserva wine is a label of particular importance, representing a true synthesis of the territory. It is produced by one of Montefalco's historic wineries, which have contributed most to enhancing and making Umbrian wines known in Italy and around the world. Clay-limestone soils, gentle hillside exposures and a cool continental climate allow the grapes to ripen slowly and perfectly, a prerequisite for producing great wines. Antonelli San Marco has long espoused the philosophy of organic farming, and the 50 hectares of vineyards are managed using only sulfur and copper, with no use of chemicals. The vineyards are immersed in an environment that is still wild and unspoiled, amidst woods and olive groves, which guarantee precious environmental biodiversity.

Antonelli San Marco's Rosso Riserva Montefalco is made with a predominant percentage of Sangiovese, balanced by Sagrantino and Montepulciano. It is a red of good concentration and power, the child of a blend of grapes particularly apt for complementary characteristics that go well together. Fermentation takes place in steel tanks with a long maceration on the skins, which goes on for 3 to 4 weeks. It matures for 6 months in tonneau, 12 months in large oak barrels, 6 months in concrete tanks and completes aging with 12 months in bottle. In the glass it has a deep red color. The nose expresses aromas of red berries, ripe cherries, soft hints of oriental spices, nuances of underbrush and delicate smoky sensations. The palate has a good structure with dense and ripe tannins. The sip gives dense and complex aromas, anticipating a harmonious and very persistent finish.
