MONTEPULCIANO D'ABRUZZO RISERVA 'BINOMIO' LA VALENTINA 2021 DESCRIPTION

The Montepulciano d'Abruzzo "Binomio" from the La Valentina winery is an intense and structured wine that expresses all the richness, power, and aromatic persistence of the great Abruzzese red grape variety. It is an evolved and complex version of Montepulciano, aged for a long time in barrique. The use of wood helps to tame the youthful exuberance of the grape and makes its tannins softer and more pleasant, giving the wine a more harmonious and balanced character.

The "Binomio" Montepulciano Riserva is produced by the La Valentina winery in the estate located in the hilly inland of Pescara. The vineyards are divided into various plots, mainly situated in the areas of Spoltore and Scafa. The particular microclimate of the area is a synthesis of the characteristics of the pre-Apennine region and the breezes from the Adriatic coast. A set of ideal conditions for perfect grape ripening. The philosophy of the winery has always been guided by the desire to intervene as little as possible in the vineyard, allowing the plants to express their balance naturally. plants to express their balance naturally. Even in the winery, the focus is on enhancing the qualities of the grapes to create typical and genuine expressions that can speak of the terroir. Fermentation takes place in vertical tanks with classic skin maceration. The wine rests for 15 months in new and second-pass barriques before being bottled.

The red Montepulciano d'Abruzzo Riserva "Binomio" from the Abruzzese winery La Valentina is a label that well represents the characteristics of its terroir and the Montepulciano grape. It presents itself with an intense ruby color with slight purple hues. On the nose, it releases aromas of blackberries, wild strawberries, and forest fruits, plums, notes of oriental spices, balsamic nuances, and herbal hints. On the palate, it has significant body and structure, with dense and complex aromas, a tight tannic weave, and a very persistent finish.
