“Montesodi” is one of the most representative labels of Frescobaldi, an aristocratic and fascinating red wine, made from Sangiovese grapes and aged for 18 months in large barrels. An elegant bouquet of red citrus, cherries, sweet spices, and balsamic herbs paves the way for a noble and structured sip, intense, fresh, and finely tannic.
The “Montesodi” is a prestigious and precise Supertuscan crafted by the renowned Frescobaldi winery. This red wine encapsulates the entire production philosophy of the estate, made with care and precision, starting from the best Sangiovese grapes, cultivated in one of the most suitable terroirs. A bottle where taste and smell go hand in hand, tied together by a communion of sensations that in tasting gives life to a fluid and coherent embrace.
“Montesodi” is produced by the Frescobaldi winery from Sangiovese grapes, cultivated in the vineyard that gives its name to the label itself. We are located about 400 meters above sea level, in one of the stony crus most suitable for the cultivation of this variety. The vines are about 20 years old and are trained with the guyot system, and the exposure is to the southwest. It ferments in steel containers, macerating on the skins for 30 days. It then follows the aging phase, during which it rests for 18 months in large Austrian and French oak barrels, until the bottling operations begin.
The wine “Montesodi” reveals itself to the eye with a beautiful ruby red color, tinged with some light garnet reflections, visible at the rim. Refined and concentrated on the nose, where notes of fruit in alcohol, spices, and a nice mix of balsamic and aromatic herbs can be sensed. On the palate, it has good structure, flavorful on the sip, with a fresh soul and a finely integrated tannic texture. A label that showcases the love for the attention to detail typical of the winery Frescobaldi, a reality that releases “Montesodi” on the market only in the best vintages. For this reason, the scores attributed to it are more than significant: in Italy and in foreign magazines, it almost reaches the highest accolades!
