This 'Arione' by Giacomo Conterno is an iconic Nebbiolo d'Alba. From an area that produces intense, structured wines, it matures like its older brother, Barolo, for many years in large barrels. The nose reveals ripe hints of cherry, dried violet and spices, with intriguing menthol notes on the finish. Very warm on the palate, the tannins are fine but austere, cleansing the palate with subtle savouriness and surprising freshness on the finish. A great wine to pair with great dishes such as veal cheek from a Michelin-starred restaurant
Bright garnet red
Intense aromas of cherry, rosehip and wild strawberry, developing into liquorice and cocoa, with a mentholated finish
Penetrating yet gentle on the palate, with subtle savouriness and deep freshness on the finish
