Davide Carlone's Nebbiolo is made from the leading grape variety of Piedmontese vineyards, grown on the hills of Novara, where it is known as Spanna. The volcanic soils, rich in porphyry, produce taut, vertical wines with a decisive character and marked freshness. The nose opens with hints of small red fruits typical of the variety, such as raspberry and currant, notes of unripe cherry and hints of violet petals and a touch of pepper on the finish. The palate is smooth, with strong tannins, a vivid freshness and a persistent savouriness on the finish. Excellent paired with a risotto with Castelmagno cheese and black pepper
