In the fascinating Mediterranean setting of the island of Pantelleria, the Pantelleria Bianco 'Isesi' is born from the family-run winery Pellegrino, a label that captivates with its original scents of caper flower, a characteristic linked to the island itself. The historic Pellegrino family, originally from Marsala, arrived in Pantelleria in the 1990s with an ambitious project to enhance Pantelleria's oenological excellences based on a close collaboration with local growers. Here, the Zibibbo vines grow caressed by the sea breeze and invigorated by the hot sun that beats down on the island, in a context as challenging as it is fascinating, capable of giving life to wines with a unique character.
The Pantelleria Bianco Pellegrino 'Isesi' originates from only Zibibbo grapes, synonymous with Muscat of Alexandria, cultivated in the districts of Sibà, Mueggen, Barone, and Khamma on volcanic soils, slightly clayey and rich in iron, at an average altitude of 300 meters above sea level. Harvesting is usually done by hand in the first decade of September, and the grapes are then vinified in a reduced environment through gentle pressing followed by a long alcoholic fermentation at low temperature in stainless steel tanks. After fermentation, the wine matures on the fine lees, always in stainless steel containers, for about 12 months, after which it is bottled.
The Pantelleria Bianco 'Isesi' from Pellegrino is straw yellow with golden hues. Aromas of green apple, white peach, and jasmine characterize the nose, accompanied by distinctive hints of caper flowers and subtle notes of sage. The palate is dry and flavorful, well-balanced between softness and acidity, with an excellent persistence on the finish.
