PAUILLAC 'LA CHAPELLE' CHATEAU HAUT-BAGES LIBERAL 2019 DESCRIPTION

Chateau Haut – Bages Libéral Pauillac ‘La Chapelle de Haut – Bages’ is a red wine from Bordeaux characterized by a soft and fleshy drink, the result of a truly sustainable production vision. ‘La Chapelle de Haut – Bages’ constitutes the so-called “second wine” of Chateau Haut – Bages Libéral, which expresses the more accessible and immediate character of the estate, although not lacking in structure and complexity. The birth of second wines in Bordeaux dates back to the 19th century, and these expressions allow wineries to maintain the quality standard of the first wines, for example by downgrading the grapes in more difficult vintages, while also allowing consumers to purchase bottles from renowned Chateaux at affordable prices.

The Pauillac ‘La Chapelle de Haut – Bages’ Chateau Haut – Bages Libéral originates from a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon (predominantly) and Merlot, with the grapes coming from the youngest vineyards of about 15 years of age. The soils on which the vines rest, cultivated according to the principles of organic and biodynamic agriculture, are of clay-limestone origin, rich in gravel. Once the ideal degree of ripeness is reached, the bunches are hand-picked and then pressed in stainless steel tanks and cement vats for controlled temperature alcoholic fermentation, associated with 18-24 days of skin maceration. Subsequently, the wine spends a year maturing in oak barrels before final bottling.

‘La Chapelle de Haut – Bages’ Pauillac Chateau Haut – Bages Libéral is ruby red in color with violet reflections. The olfactory range begins with fruity sensations of plum and red fruits, accompanied by hints of almond and notes of vanilla and chocolate due to the wood aging. Round and delicate on the palate, with vibrant freshness and velvety tannins that lead to a fruity finish consistent with the nose.
