Piccolo Derthona Luca Canevaro 2024

Luca Canevaro Piccolo Derthona is a Timorasso from the Colli Tortonesi that expresses the most easily readable face of this indigenous variety. In 2016, the producer Luca Canevaro took over the family winemaking legacy by officially founding his own winery with the support of his father Stefano. From the very beginning, the estate embraced organic farming and became part of FIVI, the Italian Federation of Independent Winemakers, an association that brings together small and independent producers from all over Italy united by the desire to create genuine and typical expressions of their respective territories. The Piccolo Derthona type constitutes the so-called entry-level range of the Derthona subzone, which in turn belongs to the Colli Tortonesi denomination.

Luca Canevaro Piccolo Derthona is a 100% Timorasso from young vines aged between 5 and 10 years. The plants, managed under certified organic practices, are located at an altitude between 300 and 350 meters above sea level and rest on predominantly clayey. The hand-picked grapes are softly pressed, and the resulting must undergoes alcoholic fermentation in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks. The subsequent maturation phase lasts for 6 months and takes place on the fine lees with periodic batonnage. This is followed by bottling and final commercialization.

The Timorasso Piccolo Derthona by Luca Canevaro has a bright straw-yellow color. The nose evokes delicate aromas of yellow-fleshed fruit and citrus peel that meet light floral sensations. On the palate, it is fresh and finely aromatic, with a crunchy and smooth sip that leads to a pleasantly mineral finish.
