The Pico is one of the extraordinary wines produced by the charismatic Angiolino Maule, a point of junction between white and orange wine. For Angiolino Maule, the choice to produce liquids that tell the story of his territory without any artifice arose spontaneously since the founding of his winery in 1988. Garganega and volcanic soil in Gambellara, an indissoluble combination that, if preserved, returns flexible expressions of great complexity. An essential experience for those who seek more than just immediacy from wine and want to listen to it.
The white Pico is produced with pure Garganega grapes, selected from the most vocated hills of Gambellara. Harvest is strictly manual, with careful selection of the bunches and transport of the same to the winery for the start of fermentation by only indigenous yeasts. The liquid remains in contact with its skins for a short period between 2 and 4 days, then ages 1 year in large barrels of 15 hectoliters. No clarification or filtration before bottling, which also occurs without the addition of sulfurous.
The Pico wine has a golden color, edged with slight coppery reflections. The picture outlined by the first olfaction is splendid, composed yet extremely detailed: orange peel, peppermint, mineral puffs. Then all the bucolic part, of white flowers and wild herbs. A crystalline and cohesive tasting, where the immense personality of the liquid never lacks elegance. Freshness and sapidity are the driving elements of the sip, enlivened by a hint of tannin. Truly delicious.
